Cousin Chris Overton and I are trying to discover our earliest Dingwell ancestor.  He is an unknown Dingwell, maybe linked to Tiny Underhay's Dingwells.  This unknown Dingwell was disinherited for marrying Mary Margaret Morrison.  I believe the reason  to be because of religion: one family being Catholic, the other Protestant.

I've included my Dingwell genealogy in the latest GEDCOM upload in the ESTACAILLE tree. **NOTE** There are several GEDCOMs loaded on this site (called Trees), and there is some duplicate information in each.  But if you are interested in strictly DINGWELL genealogy, the links for histories, photos, etc. will appear in the ESTACAILLE tree.

Unfortunately, I don't have any photos of my ancestors/cousins who carry the Dingwell surname.  But I do have photos of some of the descendants through the Simpson/Overton branches.  More information on my Dingwells will be posted in the future.   Stay tuned!

My research on this branch has been pretty quiet. Every once in awhile I visit the website "The Island Register" and check out new additions to this great source of PEI genealogy.

In June I ordered a copy of the book "From England to Prince Edward Island" from the PEI Genealogy Society (PEIGS). It contains names compiled from newspaper deaths, obituary notices, cemetery transcriptions. In the cemetery transcriptions I found Capt. William HUBBARD  and his wife Sheila DINGWELL.  As far as I know, his wife is Sibella - not Sheila.  I've ordered the cemetery transcriptions for the Old Dock Cemetery in Alberton looking for other info.  I'm considering contacting the genealogy society to find out if anyone could take photos of their gravestone for me. I've also ordered cemetery transcriptions for a cemetery in Bay Fortune.

While looking at the "Island Register" this weekend I came across a bit of info about Susannah (nee HUBBARD) ABELL. She was married to a Capt. Edward ABELL, who apparently is infamous for his death. Now, isn't it peculiar that one of William HUBBARD/Sibella DINGWELL's daughters was name Susannah Abell HUBBARD??? So is Susannah (HUBBARD) ABELL a relative of William HUBBARD??? According to records I've found she was married just a few weeks before William was born... The info I've dug up on the ABELLs will appear in the database the next time I upload my gedcom.
